Segment Routing 优势
    • Cable advertisement in IGP:No additional cable distribution protocol, simplify day-to-day network management and reduce risk of daily operation.

    • Simplicity:Simplified configuration and more plug and play capabilities is the huge benefits of segment routing. The core network has no requirements to maintain per flow state makes SR simpler to operate the network at scale.

    • ECMP:The ability to perform MPLS ECMP routing is very limited with traditional MPLS-TE approaches. SR offers ECMP routing capabilities in non-TE domains. With concept of SID, TE can be realized while still ECMP routing between nodes, or sets of nodes, affords great flexibility.

    • Scalability:In SR, there is no resource impact on the core nodes in the network and no per tunnel control or data plane state in the core of the network. It suitable for huge scales and full-mesh network, because TE paths are only programmed on the edge of the domain.

    • IPv6 support:SR can be regarded as a native IPv6 technology, which is completely consistent with IPv6 specification (RFC2460).

    • Interworking With Existing Label Distribution Protocols:SR can easily interwork with existing LDP and/or RSVPTE deployments.

    • Control plane and Data plane separated:The control plane is responsible for publishing routing information, and the data plane is responsible for forwarding packets. The division of labor is clear and easy to manage.

    • Multi-path support:When the same site accesses the network through multiple VTEPs, multiple paths connected to the site can forward traffic to improve network bandwidth utilization.

    • Supports IRB (Integrated Bridging and Routing):MP-BGP advertises Layer 2 MAC addresses and Layer 3 routing information at the same time. VTEP can perform both Layer 2 forwarding and Layer 3 routing. In this way, not only can the traffic be forwarded using the optimal path, but also the broadcast traffic can be reduced.
